TWA Postcard Set

Any Disneyland postcard collector knows the first card in the group below.  It's fairly common and easy to find.  But you don't often see it in the context of the full TWA set.  These cards combine two passions of mine...aviation, and D-land cards.  I have not looked too hard...but I think the 6 cards below represent the complete set...I may be wrong though.

Art Corner Order Form

When you collect Disneyland postcards, sometimes you end up with stuff that you may not have originally wanted, but is otherwise really cool.  A little while back I bought a lot on eBay that included a guide book from 1960.  This piece of paper was folded into the guide book.  Too bad it can't be sent in today!

Disneyland 1955 Brochure

Back in the summer of 2000 I was at an estate sale in a town near my house and found a pile of travel related postcards and the like.  The reason I bought it though was for the Disneyland stuff.  This family had been planning a trip to Disneyland (based on one package in the pile of stuff) and ended up going in 1956.

I did not know at the time there was such a thing as the Nickel Tour book, that people collected Disneyland postcards, or that there were people who would be rather interested in these items.  Aside from the postcards in the lot (among which there were some gems), the most unique thing was a pre-opening day brochure for Disneyland.  I sold this on eBay in 2000...and have never seen one like it since.  It came in an envelope full of other brochures for tourist attractions in L.A. labeled "SIGHT SEEING DATA assembled for _____________ by THE ALL YEAR CLUB, FREE VISITOR'S BUREAU."  I still have everything else in that envelope...kind of wish I had kept the Disneyland brochure though.

Mystic 54

For my first real post, I figured I would put up a quick picture of one of my favorite Golden Age comics.  This is Mystic #54 from December 1956 (So..technically I guess this is early Silver Age).  Edited by Stan Lee, cover art Bill Everett.  This cover captures 1950's sci-fy to a tee, I think.  I love the caption..."Who Steals My Brain?"

First Post Greeting

I have been collecting stuff since I was a kid.  And collecting is the most fun when it is shared with other people.  I recently stumbled across a couple blogs by guys who collect Disneyland postcards.  Well...I collect those too...so, I figured it was time I start something up online so that fellow collectors and anyone else who was interested could hopefully enjoy a little of the journey with me.  You will be seeing posts on the aforementioned Disneyland (and Disney related) postcards, comic books and comic book related items (my most substantial collection), antiquarian books, the occasional post on my sand collection (yes...sand), toy soldiers (King and Country and the like), and other things that I have failed to remember.  Thanks for stopping by!
